Rinsing & Activation

Effective root canal treatment goes far beyond mechanical preparation. Due to the complex anatomy of the root canal system, a significant portion of canal walls remain untouched by instruments alone. Thorough cleaning therefore depends on the intelligent use of irrigation – and even more on its activation.

Modern irrigation protocols combine chemical solutions with physical activation to reach areas that files cannot access. Sonic activation techniques create dynamic fluid movement, improving the penetration of irrigants into lateral canals, dentinal tubules and complex anatomies, while enhancing the removal of debris, bacteria and smear layer.

As an integral step within the endodontic workflow, rinsing and activation significantly contribute to disinfection quality, treatment safety and long-term success. By transforming passive irrigation into an active cleaning process, clinicians can achieve more predictable and efficient outcomes – even in challenging cases.

BlueTip.

A small difference. A huge difference.

Improved contrast, better visibility in the root canal – with its blue color, our sound-activated BlueTip makes a significant difference when it comes to simple, fast, and safe irrigation during endodontic treatments.

How does BlueTip work?

Sound‑generated vibrations are transmitted to the BlueTip, causing the tip to oscillate. This oscillating motion creates turbulence within the irrigation fluid, which significantly enhances the cleaning effect inside the root canal system. More effective cleaning leads to improved tissue dissolution and a greater reduction of bacteria. In addition, smear layer and debris removal are enhanced, while penetration of the irrigation solution into complex canal anatomy and dentin tubules is improved. The dynamic fluid movement also transports dentin chips and tissue remnants out of the canal more efficiently, thereby reducing the risk of blockages, ledges, and inadequately cleaned areas.

Follows the course of any canal and can be guided with precision.

Appropriate use

  • Manually screw the BlueTip rinsing tip into the thread of the sonic handpiece in a clockwise direction until the insertion resistance increases slightly. Do not bend or kink the rinsing tip during the process.
  • Fill the pulp chamber with one of the standard rinsing solutions designed for this purpose.
  • Insert the rinsing tip into the root canal and activate the sonic handpiece for up to 30 seconds as required, moving the rinsing tip up and down without applying pressure.
  • Repeat the rinsing and its activation with the rinsing tip after each preparation step.
  • After completing the application: Manually unscrew the rinsing tip from the sonic handpiece in a counterclockwise direction.

High contrast. Better visibility. Optimum irrigation. BlueTip. See the difference:

Simplicity.

Better contrast, better recognizability in the canal: The blue color makes BlueTip stand out clearly against the dentin.

Gain of time.

BlueTip agitates the irrigation solution in combination with an airscaler, which shortens the exposure time and helps you save time while efficiently reducing bacteria and removing the smear layer.

Safety.

Flexibility equals safety: the delicate polyamide tip follows the course of the canal and minimizes the risk of unintentional material removal.

Better visibility, more efficient cleaning

BlueTip stands out clearly from the dentin thanks to its blue color. This facilitates a number of work steps, for example inserting the tip into the canal without bending it. You can see whether the tip oscillates freely without touching the walls. You can also detect adhering debris and remnants of a medicated insert more easily, reduce blockages and remove residues.

Follows the course of any canal and can be guided with precision

Made of the perfect material to preserve the natural course of the canal: BlueTip is made of flexible polyamide, which makes it notably easier to follow the course of the canal and to minimize the risk of inadvertent additional substance removal. The tip can be inserted into your normal sonic handpiece.

Activation of the rinsing solution, optimization of the treatment

The success of your treatment depends largely on the mechanical preparation and disinfection of the root canals. BlueTip increases the cleaning performance and significantly shortens the exposure time by effectively activating the irrigation fluid.

Suitable for all endodontic treatments and the ideal complement for your range of instruments.

BlueTip, our sound-activated rinsing tip supports you during the chemical cleaning of the last third of the canal surface which cannot be reached by mechanical files. This makes BlueTip an important part of your range of high-quality Komet instruments when it comes to simple, fast and safe endodontic treatments.

Reasons for activating rinsing liquids.

Activation of the rinsing solution, optimization of the treatment.

Better mixing and renewal of the irrigation solution

  • Without activation the irrigant tends to be relatively stagnant in the canal
  • With activation the solution is constantly in movement
  • Therefore, used irrigant is replaced more quickly by fresh solution

Improved penetration into complex anatomy and dentin tubules

  • Activated irrigant can penetrate more effectively into hardly accessible areas like isthmuses, lateral and accessorized canals
  • Result: more bacteria and tissue remnants are reached compared with static irrigation and instruments alone.

More effective tissue dissolution, bacteria reduction and better smear layer and debris removal

  • Activated sodium hypochlorite dissolves organic tissue faster and more completely because movement increases its chemical activity and contact with pulp remnants.
  • Activation helps detach and flush out the smear layer, leaving cleaner canal walls and allowing disinfectants and sealer to penetrate better.
  • Activation creates shear forces, cavitation and microstreaming that mechanically disturb biofilms, so bacteria become more exposed and easier to inactivate.
  • Moving irrigant carries dentin chips and tissue remnants out of the canal more efficiently, reducing the risk of blockages, ledges and poorly cleaned areas.
